A Weekend in the Garden, in Pictures
Bare beds in April, first blooms by June — a season of one small backyard cutting garden, photographed.
Some seasons are better told in pictures than paragraphs. This one started with a rented tiller and a patch of lawn nobody would miss, and ended, four months later, in more dahlias than one household could reasonably use.
A proper photo essay wants a dozen images carrying the narrative — the bare beds, the first seedlings, the June flush, the October cutback. This piece currently has one lead photograph doing that job alone, which is the gap worth noting: the story format exists in the schema, but the multi-image gallery it actually needs does not yet.
